Use a concise change request for intake improvements

Keep routine improvements traceable without turning every suggestion into live behavior.

01

The operational decision

Keep routine improvements traceable without turning every suggestion into live behavior. Operational delegation should be explicit: staff and software need to know which actions are permitted and which require firm review. A smooth workflow is not a substitute for that approval record.

02

Prepare the workflow

State the problem, proposed wording, affected scope, reviewer and test; distinguish an included script correction from additional implementation work.

03

Example wording for approval

“Please review this example change to callback wording. It does not alter the firm's legal notices, practice scope or representation decisions, and it needs a regression check.”

04

Worked example

A fictional change request proposes shortening callback wording without altering the promised response. During editing, someone also adds a required date field. Separate that added collection requirement from the approved copy correction and send it through the appropriate review. The change record should identify scope impact and tests, not merely list a new version number. After approval, rerun the original scenario so the correction improves clarity without silently expanding intake or changing what staff are expected to do.

05

Handoff record

Record these task-specific fields: problem, proposed change, scope impact, approval owner.

06

Acceptance check

Approve a minor wording change and then add a new field. The added field should require its own review rather than riding on the earlier approval.
