Report inquiries that have no staff owner

Make operational gaps visible after submission or notification delivery.

01

The operational decision

Make operational gaps visible after submission or notification delivery. Intake measurement should show whether the firm receives usable inquiries and timely operational handoffs. Call volume alone does not establish legal merit, client acceptance, revenue or an improvement in professional outcomes.

02

Prepare the workflow

Count unresolved items by age and assigned queue using the firm's approved review window; avoid inventing a legal urgency score.

03

Example wording for approval

“The example report lists delivered inquiries without staff acknowledgment. It identifies an operational ownership gap, not a judgment about the legal importance of a matter.”

04

Worked example

A fictional dashboard reports every notification as delivered, yet three inquiries have no assigned staff owner. Add an ownership view showing the queue, elapsed time and acknowledgment state. A successful delivery metric should not hide this gap. Test an item transferred between queues so it remains visible until the receiving owner accepts it. The report identifies operational work needing attention; it should not calculate legal urgency or decide which underlying matters deserve professional action.

05

Handoff record

Record these task-specific fields: queue, elapsed period, acknowledgment state, owner.

06

Acceptance check

Leave one fictional item delivered but unassigned. The report should surface it even when total delivery success appears high.
