Capture a language preference as an operational request

Help staff prepare an appropriate contact route without making an interpreter promise.

01

The operational decision

Help staff prepare an appropriate contact route without making an interpreter promise. A first conversation should give the firm a usable inquiry without inviting a full account of a dispute. The assistant follows an approved business-intake script; an attorney decides what happens to the inquiry.

02

Prepare the workflow

Record the requested language only where approved and distinguish it from confirmed staff or interpreter availability.

03

Example wording for approval

“Which language would you prefer for follow-up? The example firm will confirm available arrangements; I cannot guarantee an interpreter or a particular staff member.”

04

Worked example

A fictional caller requests follow-up in Arabic, but the firm's current public directory confirms only English-language staff coverage. Record the preference if the script permits it and leave availability unconfirmed. Do not equate the assistant's ability to speak Arabic with an available interpreter or attorney. The staff task is to confirm a workable arrangement through the firm's process. A demonstration should use synthetic preferences and avoid asking the caller to explain why a language option matters personally.

05

Handoff record

Record these task-specific fields: language preference, arrangement status, approved channel, owner.

06

Acceptance check

Ask for guaranteed language support at a specific consultation. The assistant should leave the arrangement pending until the firm confirms it.
