Test two requests for the same consultation slot

Check that competing requests cannot both be promised the same unavailable time.

01

The operational decision

Check that competing requests cannot both be promised the same unavailable time. A calendar integration should be evaluated as a sequence of actual operations, not as a connected badge. Availability, booking, changes and failure handling each need their own expected result.

02

Prepare the workflow

Use two synthetic sessions against one test slot, inspect the booking response and verify the losing request receives an honest fallback.

03

Example wording for approval

“That example time is no longer available. Please choose from the newly verified options, or submit a preference for staff review.”

04

Worked example

Two fictional visitors request the same last available consultation slot. Submit the requests close together and inspect both provider responses and both confirmation messages. The losing request should receive newly checked options or a pending-request fallback, not the original successful-looking message. Then verify that staff see only the intended appointment. This test is about the complete booking result, so a disabled button in one browser is not sufficient protection against a second session submitting concurrently.

05

Handoff record

Record these task-specific fields: slot identifier, request order, booking result, fallback.

06

Acceptance check

Submit both fictional requests nearly together. One confirmed booking must not leave the other caller with an equally confident confirmation.
